In 2010, the Day Center “Agia Irini” was created, in an area of 70 sq.m., which is provided free of charge until today by a private individual. The following services are provided at the Day Center.
- Dementia prevention programs
- Non-drug intervention programs in patients with dementia
- Mental empowerment exercise programs
- Training and psychological support groups have been set up for caregivers of people with dementia.
- A scientific research team has been set up.
- Neuropsychometric assessments (memory test) are administered.
We cooperate with KAPI, Nursing Homes and mental health structures organizations hostels sych as EPAPSY, offering our knowledge and our services always on a voluntary basis. In December 2016 we started contacting schools to inform children aged 5-12 about Alzheimer’s, learning about brain function through games and quizzes.
Often with the cooperation of the Municipality and the Region, speeches are organized to inform, familiarize, educate and raise public awareness about dementia, as well as two-day workshops aimed at educating caregivers and health professionals.
We completed our first research in 2016 on the meaning of life and the wellbeing of people with dementia.
